Palembang, 4 August 2017 – South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) held Declaration of Province and Districts/Cities in South Sumatra Towards Child Friendly Districts/Cities (KLA) which was marked by a Technical Cooperation Agreement on the Implementation of Mental Revolution in Child Protection between Program Peduli and the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection. The event was attended by the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia and the Governor of South Sumatra who signed the declaration.
The MoU signing witnessed directly by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs and the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection was carried out by Country Representative of The Asia Foundation and Deputy for Child Protection Division.
This Technical Cooperation Agreement aimed to guide the coordination of programs and activities, science and technology, as well as discussions related to policies on the Implementation of Mental Revolution in Child Protection in order to achieve an inclusive Indonesia for vulnerable children and teenagers. Through South Sumatra PKBI partners, Program Peduli had always made efforts in the form of discussions, mentoring, providing space for expression and advocacy to local governments for supporting policies.
The signing of this declaration was also witnessed by children of South Sumatra Province who were part of vulnerable children and teenagers. Therefore, the attending stakeholders were trying to be able to listen to their aspirations and fulfill their rights.
In this event, inauguration of the 2017 – 2019 South Sumatra Province Children’s Forum was also conducted by the Governor of South Sumatra, H. Alex Noerdin.
